Savory Pear Hand Pies

Savory Pear Hand Pies:

  • 2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil

  • 1 Cup of Chopped Red Onion

  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)

  • 4 Individual Raw Round Pie Crust (frozen or homemade)

  • 7 Slices of Crispy Bacon (roughly chopped)

  • 1 Large Pear (thinly sliced and quartered)

  • 1 1/2 Cups Crumbled Gorgonzola

Egg Wash:

  • 1 Egg

  • 1 Tablespoon of Almond Milk

Instructions:

  1. Prep or Thaw Pie Crust.

  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  3. Begin by cooking Bacon, drain and set aside.

  4. Next you will sauté your Onion with the Olive Oil and Salt and Pepper. Set aside.

  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine Gorgonzola, Bacon and Onion. Mix well.

  6. Roll out your crust and use a cookie cutter to cut into 3 1/2 inch round circles. Two circles per hand pie.

  7. Begin building your Hand Pies. Bottom dough round, Gorgonzola mixture, Sliced Pears, and top with dough round. Once assembled, then press the top dough round edges into the bottom dough round with a fork.

  8. “X” the top of your Hand Pies with a knife.

  9. Place on a greased sheet pan or lined pan with parchment paper.

  10. Bake for 5 minutes at 375 degrees and then remove to apply Egg Wash.

  11. Bake for 10 more minutes.
